One of the eco-innovations used in Malow is the anti-corrosion protection of metal elements through zirconium conversion. Only after this process, a powder coating is applied, which, after curing, forms an impermeable layer that provides excellent corrosion protection for many years.
The entire 5-step process involves thorough degreasing, cleaning, and drying of the sheet metal. Then, all components are placed in a spray chamber, where a zirconium layer is formed on the steel surface, acting as a protective coating against corrosion. After rinsing and drying, the prepared components undergo powder coating, followed by assembly and shipping.
The application of the zirconium conversion process offers several benefits:
- It provides excellent anti-corrosion protection, higher than standard iron phosphating.
- It significantly improves paint adhesion.
- It prevents rust formation beneath the paint layer - tests have proven that zirconium conversion protects black steel sheet exposed to salt spray in a salt chamber for up to 480 hours (according to PN-EN ISO 9227:2017-06).
- It maximizes the protection of metal furniture during transportation, storage, and use.
